a mistake maybe?

18/7/25

god, using linux on my main pc was probably a mistake

so i installed linux (nobara) on a spare SSD i had laying around, and set that as the main OS

pirating games sucks.

multitasking SUCKS

gaming in general SUCKS

i don't care - i want things that work intuitively

i'll keep linux on my main pc, sure, but i dont want to do magic spells to get a simple game working, split screen still sucks compared to win10/11, and so is window switching.

never thought id say it but coming back to windows felt so good and so freeing, was like a weight was let off my shoulders and i could really use my pc to its fullest

in terms of speed of getting things DONE, i mean.

i dont want to spend hours troubleshooting some fuckass driver, i dont want to spend hours trying to see why my fucking wine isnt executing a program correctly.

nothing about that experience is a better experience than what windows already provides

don't get me wrong, i loooove linux.

hell, i've been using it for years

but when push comes to shove, and shit needs to be DONE YESTERDAY, i know who has my back.

don't even @ me, i do not give a fuck

rant over,

I had this same epiphany at one point but then went back to Linux again. Linux is best when you're not forcing yourself to use it against your will.

The Linux gaming divide was solved for me when I started maining a Steamdeck. So now I don't really play games at all unless its on the handheld, so my main PC is freed from expectations of being a gaming a device.

But lets say I was an audio engineer. I would be using Windows for that. It's really just that my main computer use activities are software and network related, so Linux is perfect.

@Nobo, definitely. i'm looking to restore my nobara install (i tried to install nobara kde and i think it was a borked ISO) maybe when i've got the free time i'll get around to it. the trouble with windows is i guess the forced update and all that telemetry. though there's probably a way to remove it, idk. i just like the idea that my own computer is mine, and with win11 it doesn't feel that way
