i think inanimate objects have souls
you know, like stuff people have loved before, or stuff that you've depended on like your bed, or soft toys, or bicycles, or computers.
i think we should care for all of our things and respect the souls within our beloved items
i used to think all our cars, even the moon were secretly alive and were watching and taking care of us
it's a silly way to think, but i was a child.
but maybe that's a better way of thinking.
i've got 2 bicycles, both salvaged from the dump from my dad, and both in great condition.
one is a black road bike i've repaired and named meteora, the other (older one) is a red city bike
i havent thought of a name for the red one though it's been serving me the longest, but i've been considering calling it Epona, after Link's trusty steed.
that bicycle has never let me down
i've considered naming my future motorcycle kelpie. i think it's cute.
i think we should buy fewer things.
i've been trying to practice that. i used to be a little embarrassed that my dad gave me preowned items a lot
i kinda get it now. i get him, he was a kind of hoarder but not like he collects rubbish. he grew up in poverty, and now works around rich people who just discards a lot of perfectly good items and he takes them back with him and repairs it or give it new life.
in that sense i respect and love him for it. i want to be like him.
i think that's his best quality, he's a resourceful man that i truly look up to

i can't bear to see perfectly good things being thrown away or abandoned either.
i'd like to start a movement in my town or neighborhood for people to start salvaging things
sometimes i walk past the dumping site of my neighborhood and i see soft toys and stuff like that and if i think they're not too dirty that they can't be washed and loved again i will take them back and clean them up
same with old electronics
perhaps i can start a small movement in town?
they say that we should be the change we want to see.
there's already a group that often goes around the town to collect unwanted clothes give to charity
maybe i can do one for electronics?
i dont really have any experience with electronics - i just google how to repair things
not sure how we can have such a movement but maybe we can have a little event where people who can fix and people who need items to be fixed can come together.
idk, it's just a thought. it'd be nice to have a community that comes together to share and help each other out, pass things that are no longer useful to one person, to another so that they may use it.
heck, my friend found a pc with a working RTX 2070 GPU just last month in the trash.
