the first day

5/8/24

the first day was weeeeird.

so, i have 2 mentors. one is the relief for the current position who has to handover the job to me.

the other is my direct supervisor.

they HATE each other.

their quirks

the relief i'm taking over from is super slow with technology, but that's okay. i can handle that and fix everything when i she leaves.

my direct supervisor loves to nag. loves to lecture people. he just loves the sound of his voice, and is super anal about things.

also he likes to make people's lives miserable.

if he wants something done a certain way, he'd ask them to redo the task again and again until they get it right but without telling them what he's looking for, which i low-key gave him a minor lecture about.

im ok with him tho. i can deal with miserable people like him.

plus, he is hinting at mentoring me to take on a position similar to his.

this could be straight up bs. but huge for me if not.

unpaid overtime on the first day

unfortunately i had to stay 2 hrs past my office hours so that i can finish up my tasks today. so it's been a tough first day.

also since i'm considered an exec, i'm not paid for overtime...

so that's fucked.

enormous pile of outstanding work

the relief is so slow at doing any tasks that the emails have piled up to 1000 unread emails.

most of them are outdated so i'll likely just follow up with the outstanding tasks from july.

i assume that by the end of next week i will complete and manage to sort out everything.

most of the work are just menial administrative tasks if i can come up with a script to handle it it'll be amazing.

not tiring

the job is pretty chill. i didnt feel hungry nor tired by the end of the day even though i skipped lunch.

i'm looking forward to more.

i'm pretty sure i'm gna kill it at work.

cheers,
