it's my current obsession
well... planning the camping trip, at least.
truth is, i've only been on 1 camping trip this year.
i don't really know why i'm obsessed with the idea of camping.
i've got no time on the weekends, between school assignments, exams, my social life, my home purchase (yeah fucking finally), renovation planning, my marriage, whatever fuck else.
but i want to do it anyway
the best place i camped was at east coast park, which was last year september.
the winds were crazy so there were no bugs, good ventilation, lower humidity. the morning was amazing as well.
this was a pic of my friend by our tents in the morning:
pasir ris beach sucks
yeah. it sucks, the wind is humid and warm, and the ground is hard so i was struggling to drive my pegs into the ground, and tree shade was scarce so in the morning the sun was blazing through my tent and woke up sticky and hot
it was an altogether unpleasant experience, and i will probably never do that again.
also there were cockroaches because of the food sources nearby (bbq pits) and also the rocks by the shore provided the perfect habitat.
next plans
i'm planning to go camp at ecp again. this time round with better equipment, like a stove, an air pillow, and a telescopic fishing rod
once i'm confident enough with my equipment and skills, then i'll try going to pulau ubin.
it's an island mostly untouched by the government urban fuckery so the biodiversity is still great.
pulau ubin side quests
i plan to do the following:
- start a camp fire (the only place in singapore that's allowed)
- take photos of at least 5 intertidal animals
- catch a fish
- gut and cook the fish
the last two side quests will fulfil one of the items from the checklist on my previous post: i'm older
beyond that
i'm going to check off another item on the list - camping at desaru
that's maybe q2 2027.
so q4 2026 is ecp, then q1 2027 is pulau ubin then q2 is desaru beach.
then q3 2027 im hoping to go to a national park to camp by a waterfall.
i do have plans to eventually do a hike + camp, but only after i'm 100% confident in my skills and equipment.
though i definitely need to put deadlines on these goals so they actually happen.
i'll post about the camping trip when it happens.
sleeping under the light polluted sky,
